Latest Announcements by Cross-linked Polyethylene Industry Leaders
The French gas utility network operator GRDF constructed the world's first gas pipeline in Clermont-Ferrand using INEOS bio-based HDPE as part of a project to lessen the carbon footprint of the city. At the INEOS facility in Lillo, Belgium, the bio-based HDPE is manufactured. It is manufactured from paper industry wood processing leftovers as an alternative to feedstocks sourced from fossil fuels.
- In January 2024, The CEO of INEOS Olefins & Polymers North, Rob Ingram, congratulated GRDF on this historic achievement. At INEOS are incredibly honoured to be involved in this revolutionary invention. In addition to the company’s efforts to cut emissions and plastic waste in the polyolefins sector, this is another illustration of the company’s dedication to collaborating with partners to create effective, lower-emission solutions for moving essential products and utilities around European cities.
New Advancements in Cross-linked Polyethylene Industry
- In October 2023, Uponor and Borealis Bornewables collaborate to develop the first cross-linked polyethylene (PE-X) pipes in history using renewable feedstock.
- In April 2023, Nexans, a prominent supplier of cable technology solutions, is introducing Nexans Fire Safety, a comprehensive package that includes cutting-edge fire safety cabling solutions, such as smart packaging and modular wiring solutions, in addition to high-end services and digital tools.
- In November 2024, Aduro Clean Technologies Inc., a clean technology company that uses chemistry to turn lower value feedstocks into resources for the twenty-first century, including waste plastics, heavy bitumen, and renewable oils, is happy to announce that it has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with GF Building Flow Solutions Americas ("GF"), a global supplier of Uponor-branded products and a leader in sustainable building solutions.
- In June 2023, Dow presents its innovative cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) solution, ENDURANCE HFDD-4201 SC Compound for Cable Systems, to the North American market. In order to minimize cross-linking byproducts, XLPE insulation—the industry standard for high-voltage transmission cable applications—currently needs to be degassed for up to a few weeks. By drastically cutting cable degassing times, ENDURANCETM HFDD-4201 revolutionizes the cable manufacturing process and lowers COy emissions while maintaining the same high quality. ENDURANCE TM Compounds for Cable Systems can assist in producing subterranean power transmission cables that meet or surpass international reliability and durability standards when utilized in conjunction with high-quality manufacturing methods.
